The basin of Didi and Patara Liakhvi rivers abounds with the monuments of cultural and historical significance that clearly display the religious beliefs and lifestyle of the inhabitants of the highland and foothill regions of the historical province of Inner Kartli. Many burial grounds and settlement remains of pre-antique and antique periods have been revealed here. Several medieval domed churches, basilicas and castles can also be seen here.
